Fred,

We trust all went well with your return.  You are once again living our dream life.  We plan to visit your website from time to time to keep up.

We are preparing to make our travel plans, and buy our tickets.  We wish to confirm our dates and places of arrival and departure with you.  We plan to arrive in Bodrum, Turkey, on Saturday, July 7 and leave from Bodrum, Turkey, on Saturday, July 21.  Are those plans still okay with you?  Is a visit of two weeks still okay?

I have never been to Europe, but Tatiana has been several times, so we are considering making a few stops in Europe before or after our cruise.  We may make plans to arrive in, say, London, spend a few days, and move on.  From there, we are considering Madrid or Costa Bravo, Monaco and Nice.

What airlines fly to Bodrum?  How do you usually travel from the U.S. to Europe?  From where and on whom do you connect to Bodrum?

Also, please confirm your telephone number in Turkey.

Jack and Tatiana

<< Jack and Tatiana have cancelled their trip and bought a boat.  They will be retired, live-a-boards in the foreseeable future. >>

Yes, arrive July 7 and depart July 21.  Bodrum  airport is convenient to three marinas to allow a good cruise with little backtracking.

Turkish Air services Bodrum and is a code share partner of American Airlines.  They are the high price leader and a quality carrier.  Lufthansa is also a code share partner with Turkish Air.  Generally, with American/Turkish Air, we have found that round trip, Dallas to Dalaman through Istanbul is the same price as Dallas to Istanbul.  Last year, my brother paid $30 extra for a 4 day layover in Istanbul.  Price it with both airlines.  On occasion, the same flights have a significant price difference for a given day.

Other choices:

Pegasus

Onur Air     select the British flag in the upper right for English

Atlas Jet

We have no experience with the other choices.

The arrival and departure dates may need to be pushed around a little to match flight availability.  Two weeks (14 days) for the cruise is a good choice.  Some of the newness will wear off and you can get a feel for the routine.

In Marmaris, we have a travel agent, Trio, who works very well for us via email.

In Istanbul, there is a good quality, low priced, well located, 2 star hotel that we use.   It can be booked via email at Side Hotel.  Pronounced “ce DAY”, it is the name of a town near Anatalya

Across the street, less than 25 metres away is   Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet  at 6 times the price.  Tell us about it if you stay there.

We are excited about your cruise.  Please keep us involved as your plans evolve.  Our phone number in Turkey is +90 538 577 5606,

From the US 011 90 538 577 5606; from Europe 00 90 538 577 5606; in Turkey 538 577 5606.

Best regards,

Phyl and Fred
